Sam Hamilton returns as Womens Coach

Doncaster Baseball Club is pleased to announce former head coach Samantha Hamilton will take back the reins as Women’s Coach for season 2014/15.

Hamilton, who stepped down last season to just playing duties, led the club to three premierships during her ten seasons at the helm.

“I am really excited to be back and can’t wait for the season to start,” said Hamilton, who clearly benefited from the season as she collected both the Hitting and Club Champion Awards.  “I am really reinvigorated after the season off and so eager to begin pre season training. We have such a great blend of players at the club, from experienced Australian level reps, long time club members and exciting junior prospects.

“It’s really a great environment for anyone of any level to be able to play this great sport,” she added.

Hamilton’s playing credentials are second to none, with the multi award winning player boasting 13-years on the Australian team and 16 in the blue of Victoria.

Her coaching resume is now growing, in 2014 she was the Australian U18 Assistant Coach, re-sat her Level 4 Coaching accreditation and took the role of Head Coach at Greenhills Montmorency Men’s 4s. This is in addition to previous roles on under age Victorian boys team.

Hamilton has appointed a stellar coaching staff to assist her including Australian stalwart player Amy McCann who has been named Assistant Coach and 2012 World Cup representative Erin Peterson will perform the role of Pitching Coach.  Completing the all-female staff is Kirrily Tyson who will line up as the Second IX coach.

“Amy, Kirrily and myself all completed the Baseball Australia Level 4 Coaching Course last May which means we will be bringing the latest, most up to date coaching theories and methods,” added Hamilton.

"It is fantastic to have Sam back as coach after a year off re-charging her batteries.  We look forward to working with Sam on the success and growth of our Women's program" said Club President John Hollingsworth.

Doncaster will field two teams in the Baseball Victoria senior women’s competition that begins in mid-October.  Trainings are Monday and Wednesday nights.

Doncaster will be holding ‘Come N Try’ Day on Saturday 6 September from 9-10am and the club welcomes all girls aged 14 and up to come down and meet Samantha and other club members on the day.  Or if you can’t make it on 6 September contact Sam on 0419 55 33 78 for more information about giving baseball a go in season 2014/15.
