And so this is Christmas....

What an incredibly odd weekend of baseball!

With the temperature topping 42° on Saturday, the  Men’s Firsts and Seconds were heated out without a pitch being thrown, the Womens Firsts had a bye and the Seconds were also heated out.

And we are not sure if it was a quirk of the weather, but Travis Cutt was injured in a Firsts pre-game warm up mishap after being struck in the face.  Our thoughts are with Trav as he recovers from a severe facial contusion and possible fracture - we hope to see "Mr. On-base" back in the line-up as soon as possible.

On Sunday morning the Juniors were also heated out with the temp hitting 34° at game time.  However the cool change came thru in time for the Fourths game which saw Doncaster defeat Preston 18-1.  And in the oddest twist to the weekend, the 3:30pm Thirds game was played almost entirely in the rain and saw the supporters scrambling for umbrellas and jackets before the end of the game.  The Dragons finished soggy winners 8-3 over Preston.

Pleasingly the inaugural Fifths "Christmas Party Derby" was completed and in the intra-club grudge match we saw the Fifths A come away with the win.

Going into the holiday break sees Doncaster’s men’s 4s on top of the ladder, the 3s, 5A, 5Bs and women’s 1s & 2s all in the hunt for finals and the men’s 1s and 2 searching for runs and wins.
